Route of Emotions – The Great Adventure

Day by Day

• DAY 1 – São Luís
  Destination: São Luis
  Disembark in São Luís and transfer to the lodging place.
• DAY 2 – São Luís / Barreirinhas
  Destination: Barreirinhas
  After breakfast, we’ll board the minibus/van heading to Barreirinhas at Lençóis Maranhenses, a 4-hour trip (optional: overflying flight over Lençóis Maranhenses).
  After check-in and lunch (not included), we will take a tour to the impressive Lençóis Maranhenses National Park.
  On board of a 4×4 (dinghy) we will cross the Preguiças River by ferryboat and take the sand trails for about 40 minutes until the park entrance. We will visit the best lagoons of the season and their incredibly clear waters, an irresistible invitation for a swim. Before returning to the lodging, we’ll experience the sunset at Lençóis Maranhenses, one of the most remarkable experiences that nature can give us.
• DAY 3 – Barreirinhas
  Destination: Barreirinhas
  After breakfast we’ll be taken to the port where we’ll board the fast speed boats through the Rio Preguiças to the Caburé Beach. On the way, palm trees and mangroves are home to birds, reptiles and mammals.
  The first stop will be at the village of Vassouras, one of the many points where the dunes of the Pequenos Lençóis meet the Rio Preguiças. Monkeys and parrots make the party of the tourists who stop to refresh themselves with cold drinks served in the shade of the tents.
  We will then take the motor-boat to the Mandacaru lighthouse in the village of the same name, which from the top of its eight stories will reveal in 360 degrees all the exuberance of the place.
  We will continue to the village of Caburé and its inns and rustic restaurants, where we will have lunch (not included). After lunch we will return to Barreirinhas. Overnight in Barreirinhas.
• DAY 4 – Barreirinhas / Parnaiba
  Destination: Parnaíba
  After breakfast we’ll take the road to Parnaíba crossing the border of Piauí and Maranhão where the Jandira Bridge over the Parnaíba River is located.
  With 640 m of extension, it is worth taking some good pictures! In the afternoon we will be transferred to the Tatus Port where we will board a speedboat through the majestic labyrinth of islands of the Parnaíba Delta towards the Caju Bay and the Guarás Island.
  During the tour it is possible to make a stop at Morro do Meio for a quick walk over the gigantic dunes of the Caju Bay and a dive in the waters of the Parnaíba River.
  The beautiful bird called guará with its bright red plumage can be seen by the hundreds as they perch at sunset in a rare and unforgettable show (animal sightings depend on several natural factors combined). We will return to the Tatus Port, where we will be transferred for fifteen minutes to the hotel. Overnight in Parnaíba.
• DAY 5 – Parnaíba / Jericoacoara
  Destination: Jericoacoara
  After breakfast we’ll leave towards Jericoacoara for approximately 130 km of asphalt until the ferryboat at the mouth of Coreaú River in Camocim. Then we’ll cross to the white dunes and the carnaúbas of Love Island. The 4×4 will follow the seaside until the beach of Tatajuba. In Lago Grande we will delight ourselves with the little nets in the water. It is also possible to see the curious “live menu” of Didi’s restaurant. The second ferry crossing will take place at Guriú beach, with its green water channel and the mangrove tree graveyard (the points visited on this route are subject to natural conditions and tidal variation, and changes may be made as previously informed by our team). We will follow the seaside until Jericoacoara in time to enjoy the sunset on the famous dune with the same name, a daily ritual for the local residents and visitors. The overnight stay in Jericoacoara will give us the chance to enjoy the night life of the village, its restaurants, stores and bars.
• DAY 6 – Jericoacoara
  Destination: Jericoacoara
  After breakfast we’ll take an off-road tour to the Paradise Lagoon.
  The vibrant color of the place reminds us of the Caribbean paradises: fine and extremely white sand mixes with the green of the low vegetation and the coconut trees, which in turn frame the turquoise blue of the crystalline water.
  Next we will visit the famous Blue Hole, perfect for bathing and taking beautiful pictures. We will spend the night in Jericoacoara.
• DAY 7 – Jericoacoara / Fortaleza
  Destination: Fortaleza
  This day the travelers choose two ways to get to Fortaleza: by road or through the beaches in a 4×4. In the road option we’ll drive approximately 370 km of paved road to the capital. In the option for the beaches, we will leave by 4×4 on trails along the seaside until Praia do Preá, from where we will drive approximately 14 km on secondary roads to reach the paved road. We will pass through several small towns like Acaraú and Itarema until we reach the beaches of Icaraí da Amontada, Apiques, Caetano, Baleia, Mundaú, where we will cross the ferryboat that will take us to Guajiru Beach. We will continue our adventure by the sea visiting the Trairi bar, which we will cross by ferryboat, and the beautiful beach of Lagoinha, Ceará’s postcard.
  Soon after we will follow by asphalt to the beaches of Cumbuco and Icaraí, already in the metropolitan area of Fortaleza. Transfer to the airport. During all this coastal stretch the blue sea, the dunes, and the coconut trees will guide us through small fishing villages interspersed with sophisticated beaches and their luxurious constructions, in an exciting landscape that is typical of the Ceará coast. This day can suffer changes in the route and in the stop times for pictures, bath and lunch due to the tide table or other climatic factors.
• DAY 8 – Fortaleza / Canoa Quebrada
  Destination: Canoa Quebrada
  After breakfast, departure from Fortaleza according to the tide table.
  During the tour we’ll visit the beaches of Caponga and Águas Belas until we get to Morro Branco. Then we will contemplate the beautiful landscapes of cliffs in Praia das Fontes, Uruau, among others.
  Then we will continue on asphalt to the magnificent beach of Canoa Quebrada, where we will have the afternoon free and stay overnight. This day can suffer changes in the route and in the time to stop for pictures, bath and lunch due to the tide table or other climatic factors.
• DAY 9 – Canoa Quebrada / Galinhos
  Destination: Galinhos
  After breakfast, departure from Canoa Quebrada by the beach. We’ll take a ferry crossing to arrive in Areia Branca. We will follow a stretch on asphalt. We will pass through the region of dunes, salt farm and wind park, ending in the bucolic Galinhos, where we will spend the night. This day can suffer changes in the route and stoping times due to the tide table or other climatic factors.
• DAY 10 – Galinhos
  Destination: Galinhos
  We reserve this day to enjoy the wonders of Galinhos. On this day it’s possible to take a boat ride to know the region and have a delicious lunch with regional cookery (service not included. Check rates and availability).
• DAY 11 – Galinhos / S. M. do Gostoso
  Destination: Sao Miguel do Gostoso
  After breakfast we will drive on asphalt road, followed by a stretch of beach crossing the salt pans until we reach the fishing village of Exum Queimado. Following the beach we arrive in the village of Sao Miguel do Gostoso where we will spend the night.
• DAY 12 – S. M. do Gostoso / Natal
  Destination: Natal
  After breakfast we will drive on asphalt road, followed by a stretch of beach crossing the salt pans until we reach the fishing village of Exum Queimado. Following the beach, we arrive in the village of Sao Miguel do Gostoso, where we will spend the night.
