Lençóis Maranhenses Trekking – 5 days

Day by Day

• DAY 1 – São Luis/ Barreirinhas
  Destination: Barreirinhas
  Disembark in São Luís and transfer to Barreirinhas in the Lençóis Maranhenses, an approximately 4-hour drive in an air-conditioned vehicle.
  Overnight in Barreirinhas.
• DAY 2 – Barreirinhas / Atins / Rio Negro / Baixa Grande
  Destination: Baixa Grande
  After breakfast, we’ll start preparing the backpacks that will be taken on the trek (the larger pieces of luggage will be stored at our support point in Barreirinhas).
  We will head towards the port where we will receive our first instructions for the adventure that awaits us. We will board a speedboat bound for Atins, down the Preguiças River.
  Along the way, we will make stops at Vassouras, Caburé (Little LençóisMaranhenses) and Mandacaru.
  Disembark at the port of Atins and board a 4×4 (jardineira) towards the mouth of the Rio Negro (20km along the coast).
  When we arrive at the mouth of the river, we’ll start our first walk, about 6km through the dunes (approx. 03h30) until we reach Baixa Grande – one of the Oases of the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park. Throughout the walk, we’ll see the best lagoons in the park. At the stops, it’s important to freshen up and use sunscreen; at the start of the day, a snack kit will be distributed to replenish your energy.
  In Baixa Grande, after accommodation, a regional dinner based on free-range chicken or goat (not included) prepared by the residents of the
  residents of the Oasis. At the end of the day we can watch the sunset from a dune very close to the hammock. Free evening to spend time with the locals. Overnight at the Redário in Baixa Grande.
• Day 3 – Baixa Grande / Queimada dos Britos
  Destination: Baixa Grande
  After breakfast, departure at 6am (or as agreed with the guide). We will continue our adventure. On this day we will walk for 09km (approx. 05 hours). At the

  Along the way we will see the best Park’s best lagoons. At the stops, it’s important to cool off and always wear sunscreen.
  In Queimada dos Britos and take the opportunity to get to know the village and its.
  This other Oasis in the “middle” of the National Park has already been the setting for films such as Casa de Areia,
  as well as many national and international reports.
  Lunch and regional dinner based on free-range chicken (not included) prepared by the owners of the lodge.
  Free evening to spend time with the locals. Overnight in a hammock in Queimada dos Britos.
• Day 4 – Queimada dos Britos / Betânia / Santo Amaro
  Destination: Santo Amaro
  After breakfast, departure at 4am (or by arrangement with the guide).
  We’ll leave Queimada dos Britos to continue our walk to Betânia (12km – approx. 7 hours) and arrive at 11am. At the start of the day, a snack kit will be distributed to replenish your energy.
  This stretch is best known for the largest lagoons in the park. Arrival in Betânia and stop for lunch (not included). At 1:30 p.m. departure from Betânia in a 4×4 (jardineira) for transfer to
  Santo Amaro.
  Free evening to explore the peaceful town of Santo Amaro do Maranhão.Overnight in Santo Amaro.
• Day 5 – Santo Amaro / São Luis
  Destination: São Luis
  Morning at leisure in Santo Amaro to get to know the city and the daily life of the locals. After checkout, departure by private transfer to São Luís, arriving at the hotel or airport. End of services.
