Day by Day

• DAY 1 – São Luís
  Destination: São Luís
  Disembark in São Luís and transfer to the lodging.
• DAY 2 – São Luís / Barreirinhas
  Destination: Barreirinhas
  After breakfast, we’ll board the minibus/van heading to Barreirinhas at Lençóis Maranhenses, a 4-hour trip (optional: overflying flight over Lençóis Maranhenses). After check-in and lunch (not included), we will take a tour to the impressive Lençóis Maranhenses National Park.
  On board of the 4×4 (dinghy) we will cross the Preguiças River by ferryboat and take the sand trails for about 40 minutes to the park entrance. We will visit the best lagoons of the season and their incredibly clear waters, an irresistible invitation for a swim. Before returning to the lodging, we’ll experience the sunset at Lençóis Maranhenses, one of the most remarkable experiences that nature can give us.
• DAY 3 – Barreirinhas / Atins
  Destination: Atins
  After breakfast we’ll be driven to the port where we’ll board in fast speed boats through the Preguiças River to the Caburé Beach. On the way, palm trees and mangroves are home to birds, reptiles and mammals. The first stop will be at the village of Vassouras, one of the many points where the dunes of the Pequenos Lençóis meet the Rio Preguiças. Monkeys and parrots make the party of the tourists who stop to refresh themselves with cold drinks served in the shade of the tents.
  We will then take the motor-boat to the Mandacaru lighthouse in the village of the same name, which from the top of its eight stories will reveal in 360 degrees all the exuberance of the place. We will continue to the village of Cabure and its inns and rustic restaurants, where we will have lunch (not included). Then we’ll cross the Preguiças until the village of Atins where we’ll spend the night.
• DAY 4 – Atins
  Destination: Atins
  After breakfast we’ll go for a tour to Canto do Atins, a small village that serves as the entrance to Lençóis. We will visit the best lagoons of the season and will stop for lunch (not included) at Luzia’s or Antônio’s restaurant, famous for their typical cuisine in the entire region. After the tour, we will return to Atins, where we will have some free time to stroll around or just rest at the hotel. Overnight stay in the chosen lodging category.
• DAY 5 – Atins / Cabure / Tutoia
  Destination: Tutóia
  After breakfast we’ll cross the Rio Preguiças in a motor boat and we’ll say goodbye to Lençóis on board of a powerful 4×4. Deserted beaches, fields, and dunes make up the landscape on this stretch. We will pass through Paulino Neves that exhibits its white sand streets and its wooden bridge over the Novo River. We will then continue to Tutóia. In the afternoon we will visit Praia do Arpoador, charming in its simplicity but great for kitesurfing or just resting. Return to the hotel for the night.
• DAY 6 – Tutóia / Parnaíba
  Destination: Parnaíba
  After breakfast, we’ll drive 110 km of asphalt to Parnaíba, crossing the border between Piauí and Maranhão, where the Jandira Bridge over the Parnaíba River is located. With 640 m of extension, it is worth taking some good pictures! In the afternoon we will be transferred to the Tatus Port where we will take a speedboat through the majestic labyrinth of islands of the Parnaíba Delta to the Caju Bay and the Guarás Island. During the tour there is a stop at Morro do Meio for a quick walk over the gigantic dunes of the Caju Bay and a dip in the waters of the Parnaíba River.
  The beautiful guará bird with its bright red plumage can be seen by the hundreds as they perch at sunset in a rare and unforgettable spectacle (animal sightings depend on several natural factors combined). We will return to the Tatus Port, where we will be transferred for fifteen minutes to the hotel.
• DAY 7 – Parnaíba / Barra Grande
  Destination: Barra Grande
  After breakfast we’ll visit the beaches of Coqueiro, Itaqui, Carnaubinha until we stop for lunch (not included) at Macapá beach. Then we will continue to the charming Barra Grande, a beach with clear and calm waters, a paradise for kitesurfers from all over the world. It is possible to enjoy the nightlife with its bars and restaurants. Overnight.
• DAY 8 – Barra Grande
  Destination: Barra Grande
  After breakfast we’ll experience a little bit of the way of life of the natives from Barra Grande with a delicious canoe and cart ride to observe the seahorses in the estuary of Rio Cardoso. The tide table will determine the times of each tour on this day.
• DAY 9 – Barra Grande / Camocim
  Destination: Camocim
  After breakfast, we’ll head to Camocim, in Ceará. We’ll take a tour through the beaches of Barra dos Remédios, passing by Maceió beach and following a panoramic tour up to Caraúbas Bay where we’ll spend the night.
• DAY 10 – Camocim
  Destination: Camocim
  This day is free to enjoy the region. If you prefer, just lie down on the deck chairs and let the time pass by you.
• DAY 11 – Camocim / Jericoacoara
  Destination: Jericoacoara
  After breakfast we’ll leave towards Jericoacoara. We’ll cross until the white dunes and the carnaúbas of the Island of Love. The 4×4 will follow the seaside until the Tatajuba beach. In Lago Grande we will be delighted with the fishnets in the water and with the curious “live menu” from Didi’s restaurant. A ferry crossing will take us to Guriú beach, with its channel of green waters and the cemetery of mangrove trees. We will follow the shore to Jericoacoara in time to enjoy the sunset on the famous dune of the same name, a daily ritual for the local residents and visitors. The overnight stay in Jericoacoara will give us the chance to enjoy the night life of the village, its restaurants, stores and bars.
• DAY 12 – Jericoacoara
  Destination: Jericoacoara
  After breakfast, off road tour to the Paradise Lagoons. The vibrant color of the place reminds us of the Caribbean paradises: fine and extremely white sand mixes with the green vegetation and coconut trees that frame the turquoise blue crystalline water. Excellent structure of bars and restaurants. Afterwards we still visit the famous Blue Hole. Overnight in Jericoacoara.
• DAY 13 – Jericoacoara / Fortaleza
  Destination: Fortaleza
  This day the travelers can choose between two ways to get to Fortaleza: by road or through the beaches in a 4×4. The option by road we’ll drive approximately 370 km of paved road to the capital. In the option for the beaches, we will leave in a 4×4 on trails by the sea until Praia do Preá, from where approximately 14 km later on secondary roads we will reach the paved road. We will pass through several small towns like Acaraú and Itarema until we reach the beaches of Icaraí da Amontada, Apiques, Caetano, Baleia, Mundaú, where we will cross the ferryboat that will take us to Guajiru Beach.
  We will continue our adventure by the sea visiting the Trairi bar, which we will cross by ferryboat, and the beautiful beach of Lagoinha, Ceará’s postcard. Soon after we will follow by asphalt to the beaches of Cumbuco and Icaraí, already in the metropolitan area of Fortaleza. Transfer to the airport. During all this coastal stretch the blue sea, the dunes, and the coconut trees will guide us through small fishing villages interspersed with sophisticated beaches and their luxurious constructions, in an exciting landscape that is typical of the Ceará coast. This day can suffer alterations in the route and in the stop times for pictures, bath and lunch due to the tide table.
